Saint Anton Festival in Tebar

 

This is held on the weekend closest to Saint Anton (January 17).

Celebrations are held in honour of Saint Antony the Great, protector of all animals. One of the activities of the party is the blessing of the pets after Mass.

Carnival

 

Aguilas celebrates its Carnival in February, and it is declared of International Tourist Interest.

Friday of Sorrows and Holy Week

 

Friday of Sorrows celebrates the festivity in honour of the patroness saint of Aguilas. It is celebrated on the Friday before Good Friday.

On Resurrection Sunday and the next Monday and Tuesday, “Las Monas” is celebrated.

It is typical to go out to the countryside to eat the “mona”, a typical dessert of Murcia pastry.
 
 
 

Our Lady of Mount Carmel

 

On July 16, the festival of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patroness saint of sailors, is celebrated. Throughout the day, various events take place, highlighting the procession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel to the fishing port, where a maritime procession subsequently begins.

This is one of the most deeply rooted festivals in the municipality of Aguilas, given its long fishing tradition, which dates back several centuries.
 
 
 

Esparto Day

 

August 7 has been declared the Official Day of Esparto in Aguilas.

Assumption of the Virgin

 

On August 15, the Assumption of the Virgin is celebrated. This is the peak of the summer season.

The rowing boat regattas and the “cucaña” stand out, both in the Levante Bay.

Three Kings Parade (January 5).

Festivities in Garrobillo (January 6), with the representation of the “Auto de los Reyes Magos”.

Day of the Cross in Calabardina (first weekend of May).

Pilgrimage of “El Rocío” (second weekend of May). A pilgrimage is held to the Mill "El Saltaor", a place where various events are held from Saturday to Sunday afternoon, such as rociera mass, paella contest, horse show, etc.

Festival in Los Arejos (the Sunday closest to Saint Isidore the Farm Labourer, May 15). In this hamlet, farmers celebrate the festival in honour of their patron saint.

Festival in El Barranco de los Asensios (on May 20). This is held in honour of Our Lady of Fátima.

“Cuadrillas” meeting (second Sunday in August).

Summer Carnival (first half of August). Taking advantage of the summer season, a sample of the famous carnivals in the town is held.

Young October (October). Throughout the month, there are many youth activities.

Francisco Rabal National Amateur Theatre Competition (October and November). During October and November, the "Paco Rabal" National Amateur Theatre Competition is held at the Infanta Doña Elena Auditorium. It is a competition through which the most relevant amateur companies in all of Spain pass.

Festival of the Immaculate Conception in El Garrobillo (December 8).
