This region has various river sources that make it important in terms of natural resources. It also has significant landscapes and places with great natural appeal. In addition to bordering the Segura river valley, this region is adjacent to the Argos river and the Mula river, among others.

Wine and rice constitute the basis of the gastronomy of the Noroeste region. Bullas wine, due to its quality and great flavour, will always be the best companion to delight the exquisite typical dishes of the region, such as “empedrao” and other native and representative dishes.

Bullas wine has a Denomination of Origin.

The cultivation of rice in the region is very significant; in addition to the vineyards, this region has important land for cereal crops, with the rice that comes from here being one of the best in all of Spain.

Calasparra rice is one of only three rices that have a Denomination of Origin (along with Valencia and those from the Ebro Delta).

In the municipalities of Bullas and Cehegin, craft markets are held on the first and last Sundays of each month. They attest to the gastronomic and cultural wealth of this region of Murcia.
