Our Lady of the Rosary Church (Puerto Lumbreras - Murcia)

Our Lady of the Rosary Church (Puerto Lumbreras)

The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary was completed in 1723. Unfortunately, it suffered the vicissitudes of the Spanish Civil War, a time when most of its assets, which were part of the church since the 18th century, were destroyed. Thanks to the collaboration and solidarity of neighbours and parishioners, these assets have been replenished throughout the 20th century.

The most important image of this parish is the representation of the Virgin of the Rosary and the Child. The Virgin is placed upright and facing the front, placed on a pedestal. At her feet, we see some little angels that help him to hold her mantle. This work of art is a beauty that shows a face with soft and angelic features.

The church is in the Baroque style. It has a Latin cross plan, with four sections, or six if we include the transept and the high choir at the foot. The ceiling in the centre of the church is a dome from the beginning of the 19th century, of enormous beauty. With regard to the exterior, the three-section tower is the highlight of its façade.
