Salto del Usero (Bullas - Murcia)
Few natural wonders are as spectacular in the region of Murcia as the Salto del Usero. This comforting space created by nature attracts a multitude of people.

The busiest time of the year is during the night of Saint John, with the “Bajada de la Mora”, a local celebration that attracts hundreds of people to commemorate the Moorish queen. At midnight, locals and visitors gather near the waters. Some of them submerge parts of their bodies to receive the blessings of this divinity.

The experience of swimming in the waters of the Salto del Usero is incomparable. The passage of time has done an excellent job in this site, sculpting spectacular rock formations in which, when passing underneath, you can feel an unbeatable satisfaction next to the cold and crystalline waters.

The Salto del Usero and its beauties

Visiting the Salto del Usero and not taking a comforting bath in the Vaera pool is the same as simply not having been there. It is an accumulation of water surrounded by lush vegetation, fed by a waterfall that seems to come from the sky itself.

Downstream, you can find several pools of similar comfort, known to the more adventurous and to those who can't enjoy a place if they don't go all the way.

The waters of the Mula river and its incessant flow through the rocks formed this marvellous spot full of pools, vegetation and other geomorphological formations.

You can also enjoy several waterfalls, some of which are longer than others, together with several spaces that are partially enclosed naturally, giving the sensation of being in small caves.

Historical wealth of great cultural value

A dozen flour mills surrounding an ancient castle in what is known as the Cerro del Castellar attract the attention of those interested in historical tours and expeditions.

One of these mills is still in operation, which is impressive considering that they date back to the 15th century. A couple of others have been restored for the enjoyment of visitors.

El Molino de Arriba, for example, has been recorded since 1684. The millers of yesteryear in the region of Murcia used to take advantage of the rushing waters of the Mula river to generate the energy necessary to run their flour mills. Today, fortunately, the cultural wealth left by history can still be appreciated thanks to the conservation of these elements.

In addition, the rock formations created by the passage of water over so many years invite study by geology professionals and teachers of this branch of science, who, together with their students, can evaluate and learn from these interesting environmental passages.

The Salto del Usero is a tourist area that can be enjoyed if you visit the El Molinar area. It is not a complicated route, but rather an ideal place to note on the map and to not forget to visit later.
