Los Alcazares (Murcia)
In the Ribera del Mar Menor is Los Alcazares, a favourite town among tourists due to its quiet beaches.

Los Alcazares offers great options to spend a different vacation and surprise those who visit it as a couple, family or friends.

We present our five reasons to visit Los Alcazares:

The “Caldero”

If you want to try the best gastronomy of Los Alcazares, you must try the traditional dish of the area, known as “caldero”, made with fish and rice. Its name comes from the fact that it is served in the same vessel in which it is cooked, which is concave in shape, with handles around it.

You can also taste foods such as “michirones” (a stew based on dried broad beans to which ham bone, chorizo and laurel are usually added), “pastel de cierva” (a typical Mar Menor cake that combines sweet and salty flavours) and the “zarangollo” (scrambled eggs and courgette, onion and, sometimes, potato).

Rame Tower

This is an old infrastructure, of Arab origin, created to defend itself against the attacks of Barbary pirates. This building completes a series of coastal watchtowers built at the end of the Middle Ages.

The Rame Tower owes its name to the Arabic toponym, derived from “Arramín”. It already existed in the 13th century when King Alfonso X of Castile reconquered the kingdom of Murcia.

Beaches

If you want to enjoy a day of sun and beach under the shade of large palm groves, this municipality offers a wide range of beaches such as Carrion Beach (200 meters), El Espejo Beach (800 meters), La Concha Beach (200 meters), Las Palmeras Beach (1,100 meters), Las Salinas Beach (1,000 meters), Los Narejos Beach (1,000 meters) and Manzanares Beach (400 meters), among other outstanding beaches.

Walking along the shore of the beach at dawn is something you cannot miss if you are visiting Los Alcazares. The aurora offers one of the greatest natural spectacles of these lands and provides the relaxation that is so sought after on those free days of summer, or simply when you want to break the daily routine.

Municipal Aeronautical Museum

This museum, located next to the historic Los Alcazares aerodrome, exhibits, through the use of models, photographs, weapons, etc., the history and details of military aeronautics in the mid-20th century.

It allows you to learn more about what the Los Alcazares Air Base represented in the history of Spanish military aeronautics.

Sports

Thanks to its privileged climate, Los Alcazares offers great possibilities in terms of practicing sports.

In Los Alcazares, it is very common to practice water sports given its proximity to the sea. Sailing, windsurfing and paddle surfing are among the most common sports in this town.

Inland, this coastal area is also a benchmark for golf fans, as several golf courses offer, in addition to traditional services, beginner or advanced courses.

Also, the entire Mar Menor coast has promenades that are ideal for jogging.
