Yecla is a city of great antiquity whose first inhabitants date back 30,000 years ago, to the Upper Palaeolithic. That is why many archaeological sites of great importance, such as El Madroño and La Fuente, have been found in its surroundings. Yecla’s heritage wealth combines with the enormous natural beauty of its surroundings to result in routes and trails of great attraction and popularity.
Two urban routes of Yecla focus on its artistic, historical and archaeological heritage; visitors can admire heritage monuments of exceptional beauty such as the Alarcos Palace, the Main Square, the Concejo Palace and countless churches. In addition, they can get to know impressive archaeological treasures such as Los Torrejones and the Via Romana.
In Yecla, there are circular routes of moderate difficulty, such as Lomas de los Castillarejos and Around Monte Colorado, 5 and 13 kilometres, respectively. Hikers can admire heritage monuments while entering hills that offer views of landscapes such as Monte Colorado and Cerro de la Campana.
There are other routes, also circular, that are easy to navigate, such as the Walks in and around Yecla, 3 kilometres long, and Around Las Pansas, almost 7 kilometres long. These offer excellent views of the city and the natural beauty of the mountain range. Other notable routes are Raspay—Pansas, the Paseo entre Viñedos of Las Gruesas and Llano Quintanilla, all of which are of very low difficulty. They are pleasant routes where you can admire the spectacular vineyards and beautiful landscapes of the region on walks ideal for the family.
