The Basilica of La Purisima is the main temple of Yecla. It is dedicated to the patroness saint of the town, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
It was built between 1775 and 1868 in a neoclassical style. However, the tower shows a neo-Mudejar style, with a square plan and an octagonal body of bells. Perhaps the most beautiful detail is in its cupola, decorated in a spiral with blue and white tiles.
The basilica is also known as the “New Church”, as the Church of the Saviour is considered the “Old Church”.
