Lorqui has historically been characterized as an agricultural town, as its orchards are fed by the Segura river, which has attracted the settlement of man for a long time. The first evidence of population stems from the Iberian era. Later, the lands were inherited by Romans and Arabs.
The Parish Church of Saint James the Apostle, in the baroque style corresponding to the 18th century, is its most respected heritage. In it, the community’s Saint James the Apostle and its patroness saint, the Virgin of the Rosary, are venerated.
The “Noria del Rapao” is also an attraction that dates back to the 18th century. It is a typical piece of Murcia's orchards, with large dimensions, which have made it worthy of the title of Monument of National Artistic Interest.
