This modern hermitage was built in 1976 under the project of the architect Vicente Caraulet Casse, in the place where, in the past, there was another hermitage dating from 1896, which also offered devotion to the Virgin who bears her name, patroness saint of the town.
Despite the structural variations that it has undergone throughout its history, original images such as the Virgin of Our Lady of Consolation—which, according to experts, is from medieval times—are still preserved. The temple is located on the outskirts of town, in the vicinity of the Segura river.
