Saint Mary Church (Lorca - Murcia)

Saint Mary Church (Lorca)

Its construction began in the 13th century. Since then, this church has undergone countless renovations.

The Church of Saint Mary is located in the vicinity of the Castle of Lorca. Since its construction, it has gone through great historical moments, given its location within the medina of Lorca.

During Christian times, it was the main and most sumptuous church in the city, until the construction of Saint Patrick Church in the 16th century.

After enormous restoration work, the church has been transformed into the “Lorca Ciudad de Frontera (CiuFRONT)” Museum, which deals with the medieval history of Lorca and has several permanent collections.
