Saint Joseph Church (Lorca)

In 1706, the Council of Lorca granted a place for its construction, finishing it in 1708. Between 1751 and 1869, the Church of Saint Joseph was considered secondary to Saint Matthew Church, losing that character due to the ruin and poverty in which it sank. A few years ago, it acquired parochiality again.

Saint Joseph Church suffered serious deterioration due to the earthquakes of 2011. The main peculiarity of this temple is its vaults, which are built with a wooden and cane structure. After their reconstruction, these structures were respected using this same traditional technique to reconstruct the sunken and deteriorated vaults.
