The museum is located in the Roche Old Schools building, which was built in 1909. This building was remodelled in 2010 to house the ethnographic collection.
This museum tells the story of a paradoxical city, which made many rich with its mines, but which, on the other hand, presented extremely harsh conditions for the workers. These two realities shaped a cosmopolitan city of working people.
In addition to housing the Interpretation Centre of the municipality, the Ethnological Museum displays an ethnological collection of the utensils of the daily life of its inhabitants. This permanent exhibition of ethnology is made up of a series of elements, among which are household items dedicated to lighting, weights, and measures, ceramic objects, clothing, and agricultural implements, among other items.
