This is a work of modernist style, considered one of the most outstanding pieces of modernism in the region of Murcia. It was built in 1907 as a food market for the town of La Union, which was experiencing a time of great economic growth thanks to the rise of the lead and silver mines.
In addition to seeing its interior, which is very bright thanks to the fact that the construction is made largely of iron and glass, it is advisable to admire its main facade, which is ornamented with windows inspired by Romanesque and Gothic styles, but at the same time show a modernist style with straight lines.
Also noteworthy are the pinnacles found along the cornices—round, pointed, or in the shape of a fleur-de-lis. These are details considered typical of modernist architecture.
