The Molinete Archaeological Park has an area of 26,000 square meters and is located in the heart of the old town of Cartagena. It is one of the largest archaeological parks in Europe and its wealth of heritage spans from the third century BC to the 20th century. This makes it an excellent archive for reconstructing the history of the city.
The first excavations in the park were carried out in 1977 by Pedro Antonio San Martín Moro. In 2008, a scientific excavation project was launched to preserve and value the archaeological heritage rescued at the top and in the blocks or insulae I and II, belonging to the Roman period.
